Should go to bed soon. Later today I'll be touching down at LAX for my 1st visit back to LA in 11 months. 5 days of smog and palm tree goodness, my longest trip back since I moved to Cleveland. Gonna stay with seamusthervet and see some friends and do some clubbing. Really look forward to it.

| | tired | ] | This past weekend hyacintheraven and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary. hyacintheraven got us a cake that was a small-scale replica of our wedding cake...damn good, once again (and almost gone ;) )...and then, we had a dinner of the gods...delivery of food from Melt.
One of our gutters got loose from some rotting wood and was hanging down the back of our house. It's gonna be fixed perhaps this weekend, though.
I'm going to probably go to the Bela Dubby for a big 'ol noise show...and then hit The Chamber on Saturday. I'm going to also be flying out to LA on Wednesday evening (the 7th) to visit seamusthervet for a few days (his bday is on Sunday the 11th) and some friends..gonna fly back on Monday 12th at night on a red-eye.
Good to see some upcoming shows...(gonna miss Missile Command on the 9th, alas, as I'll be in L.A.)....The Damned and Skinny Puppy playing shows at the House of Blues..a reunion of local noise/experimental band Jerk at Now That's Class...Informatik at The Phantasy & Nitzer Ebb (about time) playing here at Peabody's. Hopefully, I'll have enough $ to hit all of these shows.

| | chipper | ] | Just surfing the net today. Got a haircut at Best Cuts earlier today. Had a nice 4th of July watching the Lakewood (and a little bit of Cleveland's) fireworks from the 3rd floor attic in our house...and on the porch, waiting for pizza from Angelo's, which hyacintheraven and I quickly ate (well, most of it).
I went to The Chamber. Guest DJ Textbeak played Skeletal Family, which was awesome. I don't recall ever hearing Skeletal Family in a club here.
On Friday, I went to Now That's Class for a benefit for (in part) Steve Hauschildt of Emeralds, who had his gear stolen in NYC during the No Fun Festival (which I went to). Show was awesome. Local noise artists Skin Graft and Aaron Dilloway absolutely fucking killed, period. Cleveland truly has an awesome noise/experimental music scene.
I've been on a diet for about six months now (hard to believe, I know) but I've generally been quite good about sticking to it. Probably because days like the 4th I decided to break it, long it (as I will for vacations and holidays). But, I needed to get my eating habits in check because I probably had the worst high-fat/no veggie diet in existence. I'm still not eating veggies really, but I've been eating a lot of low-fat/cholesterol/sodium stuff, organic stuff...and lots of fruits, oranges at first but I've taken a particular liking to bananas lately (Dole Organic from Trader Joe's) as they're less messy and they're cheaper. Also been trying to stay away (and I'm generally successful) from nitrates/nitrites, too. I've lost about 30 lbs. in the past six months.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are coming to the House of Blues toward to the end of the month..I'm gonna try to get tix. Missle Command is playing at the Phantasy on the 17th.
Also, Subhumans are playing that Now That's Class tomorow. I can't believe they're playing at such a small venue with no advanced tickets. I'm gong to go right after work to the show and hope to get semi-decent parking and, most importantly, get into the club.
Next week I'm going to be renting a car and drive to Philadelphia to see Leaether Strip & Noisuf-X. Really looking forward to the show. Wolf Eyes are playing this Friday at Pats in the Flats but I'm going to probably skip since the show will probably go past midnight and I want to be on the road to Philly by 8am.

Well, he can still fuck off and die. He's probably shooting up and/or tweaking out right now..assuming he's upright/semi-upright/conscious right now. Fucking loser piece of shit scumfuck. |

| | absolutely fucking livid | ] | i went to 80s night tonight at The Chamber tonight. Minding my own business. I was standing on the edge of the dancefloor (like an antisocial dork, like I always do) when this absolute fucking douchebag come ups to me and asks what I'm doing. I was checking my email on my phone and just watching things (there was a David Bowie song I didn't feel like dancing to). He then asks me why I'm not dancing...I told him I didn't feel like dancing to the song. He then proceeds to tell me that...and I quote....that I'm a "fucking creep." Um...EXCUSE ME? What is YOUR fucking problem, buddy? I'm just minding my own god-damned business and you pull this shit? I told Kat (the bartender) about this...and she talked to the guy...I was not in a mood to get in a fight. Apparently, he's a fucking prick when he's drunk, which he was. The rest of the night went ok. He better steer clear of me in the future..and, if he knows what's good for him, better not even think of laying a fucking hand on me. Not sure if anyone knows this putrid piece of shit...but...he had dyed black hair..eyeliner...around 25-30ish....probably saw My Chemical Romance namecheck The Cure on eMpTV..and thought.."ooh, that's cool...I'm gonna go to 80s night." Scumfuck.
I'll probably go to 80s night next week...HE BETTER FUCKING BACK OFF.
"Nazi Punks Fuck Off" by the Dead Kennedys comes to mind when I think of this fucking turd..."You ain't hardcore cos you spike your hair When a jock still lives inside your head"
Then again, this douchefuck probably thinks Green Day (or MCR) invented punk-rock.
And..if you're out there..and reading this...FUCK YOU AND BACK THE FUCK OFF. PERIOD. |

Yep... hyacintheraven and I are getting married...on Friday 9/26 in the evening. Very informal ceremony but what matters is that I'm marrying the woman who always bring a smile to my face and makes my heart skip a beat.
Then..right after....early early Saturday morning...we're going to take Amtrak to Chicago to see My Bloody Valentine at the Aragon Ballroom!
Going to Downtown Cleveland tomorrow (Thursday) to get the marriage license.

| | Computer Hum | ] | I'm down in Ocala, FL for the holiday, for my 3rd Florida visit. Came in yesterday morning..flew into Tampa. Visiting my dad and my aunt. Haven't done a ton as of yet, but my dad and I did go around Ocala a bit today, visiting sleepy downtown Ocala. Had a late lunch at Sonny's BBQ..a Florida/Georgia chain...pretty good stuff. Watched the Science Channel tonight w/my dad to see the landing of Phoenix on Mars.
Tomorrow, we're going with my aunt to the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg...then I fly home in the evening from Tampa.
I can hardly wait to see my hyacintheraven ....I MISS YOU SO MUCH! |

What do you call it when the temperature drops from 54 F to 20 F? in TWO HOURS? Cleveland. Wind chill is 1 F.
Been working and stuff as usual. Went to lovely Lansing, MI this past weekend for the 517 Noise Fest...cool bands. My dad went years and years ago (1948-1952, I think) to the University of Michigan, and of course, Lansing is the home of their arch-rivals, Michigan State (he was in the school band).
It's windy as fuck outside, too. Just hoping our rickety fence and gate don't fall down..lol. We're looking to put up a chain link fence (and fix the garage door) later this year, when we get our tax refunds...ah, life as homeowners..heh.
I'm curious to know which venue The Cure will be playing at in June..probably Blossom...I'd rather see them play the Q or the Wolstein Center (as downtown is far closer to Lakewood than Cuyahoga Falls). |

W.A.S.T.E. is coming here in March..looking forward to that.
Speaking of shows, Accessory is touring..one show, so far..in Florida. Hopefully more shows will be added. |

Quiet as usual.
My sister came out earlier this month (14th to the 17th) to visit for the first time. Showed her around Cleveland a bit....Rock Hall, Coventry Rd, Downtown/Public Square, Ohio City, etc. Went down to Orlando, Florida on the 17th to visit my dad and aunt (who live in Ocala, 80 miles north). Nice to experience mostly warm weather (compared to Cleveland). Had a nasty bout of food poisoning the Saturday I was there, but I survived. Came back Xmas Eve.
Christmas was nice...spent it with hyacintheraven's parents. Good times.
Went to The Chamber yesterday..had a good time.
De/Vision is touring...and the closest shows to Cleveland are in Minneapolis, Philly and Passaic, NJ...none of which are on Saturdays. Too bad there isn't a Chicago (or closer) show..at least not one that has been announced.

| | The Operative-Revival (Apocalyptic Pulpit) | ] | Another post. Been working and stuff. Halloween wasn't eventful...for me, anyway. hyacintheraven, though, passed out a bunch of candy on Halloween, during the designated Halloween "hours"...6-8. I was at work in the cultural wasteland known as Lorain County (Invacare is on the Elyria/North Ridgeville border..you'll have to put a gun to my head for me to move out there). The last time I lived in a single-family house during Halloween was in 1993, when I was still living in Northridge, in the house I grew up in. The City of Los Angeles didn't have set halloween hours..I remember when I was younger trick-or-treating up 'til almost 10pm sometimes..lol.
Speaking of out-of-town stuff, my friend Shervin was, strangely enough, in Lakewood this weekend. I've known him since my days at Pierce College in the mid-90s. He and I were in the Model UN program at Cal State University Northridge, too, in the late 90s. He moved to Sacramento back in the early part of the decade and then later moved to DC, where he's been since around 2003. Anyhow, he was in town to help his old DC roommate Tom Bullock out, who's running for Ward 2 (my ward) of the Lakewood City Council. So, I hung out with him this weekend and met Tom, who is a nice guy with a firm grasp of the issues. (Hopefully he wins on Tuesday). Saturday we went to the Chamber, expecting to find a parking spot in seconds, and faced people and cars *everywhere*. I figured it would be crowded with the the Mushroomhead show taking place, but what I saw was fucking nuts. Cars parked in Hird 2/3's of the way to Clifton, cars on Detroit parked all the way down to Baker Towing. I used to live above Maria's Roman Room right on Detroit, and, that night only, I wish I still did..lol. I lucked out and found someone pulling away on Detroit and was able to squeeze myself into the parking space.
Had a good time at The Chamber...somebody banged on a front window, broke it, and apparently bolted...moron. Good sets by dyadfaerie and guest DJ Purrincess both.
Didn't do much today, except make a run to Pet Supplies Plus on Detroit and to Drug Mart. At Drug Mart, I was in the chips aisle and it looked like at first the security guard was looking at me, as if I was going to steal something. Apparently, she was actually looking at someone else, though.
Chilling here at home..trying to keep warm. (Yeah, I know, it's not "really" cold, yet, but still). Don't know if I'm going out tonight, though.
I'm thinking of going to Rochester, NY in two weeks.to go see VNV, and more importantly, the guys in System Syn, who are opening. The Pittsburgh-area show is on a Friday, and I don't get off work until 8pm, so I don't see Pittsburgh being practical.
However, *this* weekend, I'm doing a poor man's trip to NYC (Greyhound and hostel) to go to this:
